In June, awardees came together at La Figata for a celebration and connection event.

The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving has established a Greater Together Community Fund for the Town of Granby.

The purpose of the Greater Together Community Funds (GTCF) is to support the community in taking ownership around the needs in their towns, encourage broad and inclusive civic engagement and anchor the Hartford Foundation in each town.

This fund is anchored in the conviction that residents understand the challenges they face in their communities, but are often constrained by a lack of resources. This lack of resources included the need for more opportunities to meet with one another, share concerns and work together with all members of the community to develop solutions.  We welcome proposals that put forward a case for how they will benefit residents of Granby around important needs and opportunities.

Announcing our 2025 Grantees

What would we love to be true for Granby?  What if we could support those making this vision possible, and connect these efforts across our community?

With questions like these in mind, the resident-led committee leading Granby’s Greater Together Community Fund (GTCF) at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, commenced our mandate to co-lead a participatory grant-making process in our community.

Starting in February, our resident-led committee began by listening, hearing our neighbors’ perspectives about their hopes, priorities and ideas for Granby’s potential.   We then welcomed proposals from non-profit and community groups about how they’d meet needs and generate greater opportunity for our town.  Throughout this process we have seen strong support for meeting the needs of vulnerable groups such as for senior services and those facing food scarcity, as well as investing in youth services, the arts and engaging with our natural environment.

After a highly competitive selection process that fielded 33 applications totalling nearly a half million dollars in funding requests, the committee awarded nearly $104,000 to 12 organizations across sectors representative of our town’s needs, opportunities and diversity.  We invite everyone to share in our congratulations to the following awardees:

We look forward to watching these projects unfold and we welcome town residents to reach out to any of these organizations to find ways you may contribute or benefit from their efforts.  We are deeply grateful for all applicants’ efforts in the application process and for their commitment to our town.  The sheer volume of strong applications is a true testament to this town’s care for all of us.

What’s next for 2026?

We are committed to elevating the efforts of our community members and hope to support as a force for connection and unleashed potential in Granby.  We welcome hearing from anyone with ideas or feedback for the next grantmaking cycle in 2026 or any of our potential engagement in town.  Share any ideas or expressions of interest to collaborate, including joining our committee, to granbyac@hfpgcommunityfunds.org.
