The Greater Hartford Gives Foundation
The Hartford Foundation Makes Two Major Announcements to Close Its Centennial Year
A new brand and a new headquarters, with the same commitment to our community that we've had for 100 years
A New Name
On Friday, December 5, the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving announced it is changing its name to the Greater Hartford Gives Foundation. This effort includes the creation of a new logo and tagline, “A strong foundation for all.” (The name change takes effect in January 2026.)
We engaged in this rebranding effort to better reflect our commitment to Greater Hartford and to bring more people into our mission, including future changemakers who care deeply about their communities. We believe the new brand is clearer, more welcoming, and better represents our vision of supporting the entire region, today and for the future.
A New Headquarters
The Foundation has begun the multi-year process of building a headquarters at the intersection of Albany Avenue and Main Street, a part of a broader vision for a gateway to Hartford’s North End.
The initiative will be more than just a new building; it is an effort for us to be closer to the community, to make a catalytic impact that complements the existing investments in the North End neighborhood. Moving from the eighth floor of a downtown office tower to a street-level perspective brings us closer to the challenges and opportunities that drive our work.
While we are not a direct service provider, the office will be an asset for the community, serving as a cornerstone for broader community engagement and economic revitalization. We plan to break ground in the spring of 2026 and expect to move into our new home in 2028.
A New Century
Our Centennial year provided several opportunities to make bold investments to strengthen Greater Hartford while preserving our grantmaking abilities into the next century.
We hope you join us on our journey into our 101st year and beyond.
