As the Senior Associate for Scholarships, Mercedez helps with administrative aspects of our individual scholarship program, from application to selection and dispersal.

Mercedez comes to us from the National Mental Health Corps where she managed program operations for their AmeriCorps program, including database maintenance, implementation of program-wide initiatives, and stakeholder support to name a few. She also has experience working with students from her time as the College Advisor at College Advising Corps (AmeriCorps).

She holds a Bachelor of Science, Allied Health Sciences and a minor in English from UCONN, all while being a member of their Honors Program.

What do you enjoy most about Greater Hartford?

I moved to the Greater Hartford area just last month (I am originally a Waterbury native), but my favorite thing so far has been exploring and trying all of the new food spots, both downtown and in the surrounding areas! It has also been great learning about the new organizations and amazing people doing their part to improve the community.

Are you involved in any volunteer activities?

I recently started volunteering with Hands On Hartford, specifically with their Gather55 initiative.
