Moraima Gutierrez Named Chair of Latino Endowment Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving

Moraima Gutierrez of Hartford has been named chair of the steering committee for the Latino Endowment Fund at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, the community foundation serving the 29-town Greater Hartford region. She succeeds former Latino Endowment Fund steering committee chair Nelly Rojas Schwan who will continue serving as a member of the committee.

Gutierrez currently serves as Assistant District Director for Economic Development / Media Relations at the Connecticut District Office of the United States Small Business Administration (SBA). In this role she is responsible for further strengthening and delivering SBA’s many loan programs and entrepreneurial services by helping business owners grow and expand their businesses every day.

Gutierrez previously worked as the station manager for Telemundo, WRDM Hartford/WDMR Springfield where she was responsible for all aspects of managing the station throughout Hartford, New Haven counties as well as Western Mass. Gutierrez also worked for the Latino and Puerto Rican Affairs Commission where she served as media and public relations liaison for the Commission. She currently serves on several boards in her local community including the Connecticut Children’s Museum and the Aurora Foundation.

Gutierrez is a graduate from the University of Saint Joseph with a M.S. in Management and a B.S. in Communications/Liberal Arts from Bay Path University.

The Latino Endowment Fund was founded in 2003 by Latino leaders in Greater Hartford to increase philanthropy in their community and to strengthen nonprofits working to improve the quality of life for Latino residents. Members examine issues affecting the Latino community and recommend grants from the fund to address those issues. In May, Alberto Ibargüen, president of the Knight Foundation, announced a $50,000 matching grant to the Latino Endowment Fund.
