Hartford Foundation for Public Giving Welcomes Elsa Núñez and Gordon Scott to Board of Directors

Elsa Núñez and Gordon Scott have been appointed to the Board of Directors of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, the community foundation for Hartford and 28 surrounding communities.

Núñez and Scott’s appointment by the members of the Hartford Foundation’s Board of Directors took effect August 2, 2016, expanding the board from nine members to eleven. Núñez’s three-year term will end on December 31, 2018 and Scott’s five-year term will end on December 31, 2020

Dr. Elsa Núñez has served as president of Eastern Connecticut State University since 2006, and Professor of English since 2006. She came to Eastern following more than 20 years as a senior administrator at institutions such as City University of New York (CUNY) and the University of Maine System. In addition to serving on the board of the Association of American Colleges and Universities, Dr. Núñez also serves on the boards of organizations such as the Council for Higher Education Accreditation, the Connecticut Association for Human Services, Leadership Greater Hartford, the American Association of State Colleges and Universities, and the Council for Adult and Experiential Learning.

Gordon Scott is CEO of Scott’s Jamaican Bakery, a 37 year old family business which includes three retail locations in Hartford as well as a wholesale distribution business. In addition to his work as head of one of Hartford’s most established restaurant businesses, Scott is an active member of the community serving on a variety of boards including serving as chair of the Upper Albany Merchants Association, Chair of the Hartford Chamber of Commerce, Vice-Chair of the Metro Hartford Alliance, and a member of the Upper Albany Main Street board of directors.

Scott received his B.A. from the University of Colorado Bolder and his MBA from the University of Hartford.
