Hartford Foundation Announces Second Round of Phase Two Grants from COVID-19 Response Fund

More Than $400,000 in grants awarded to 23 Nonprofit Organizations

In March, the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving launched the COVID-19 Response Fund to rapidly deploy resources to support the residents who are most significantly affected by the coronavirus pandemic. The Fund is designed to complement government efforts and expand local capacity to address the outbreak as efficiently as possible. The Fund has transitioned from emergency response to keeping nonprofit staff and clients well prepared and safe during the re-opening phase of the pandemic. Grant awards will support re-opening costs that nonprofits expect to incur over the remainder of 2020, including personal protective equipment (PPE), cleaning, small COVID-related infrastructure accommodations, technology to support virtual services and/or remote staff, staff health screenings, etc. and must be in alignment with state and federal public health guidelines for safely re-opening facilities.

"As more nonprofits reopen their facilities, the Hartford Foundation COVID-19 Response Fund is pleased to be able to provide many of them with the cleaning and personal protective equipment they need to protect their staff and the residents they serve,” said Hartford Foundation President Jay Williams. "This latest round of grants includes organizations providing a wide array of services to our community as well as support to community arts organizations that are significantly challenged by the economic and public health crises.”

The second round of Phase Two of COVID-19 Response Fund grants totaling $424,142 to support community-based organizations that provide a variety of critical supports. Since its launch, the COVID-19 Response Fund has made $8,559,637 in grants to more than 160 organizations providing basic human needs, cleaning supplies, PPE to support reopening of nonprofits and other services to local residents.
