For 25 years, Gloria McAdam has worked both to feed hungry people and to end hunger in this region.  As president and CEO of Foodshare – Greater Hartford's regional food bank – Gloria is a well-known voice for those who struggle to feed themselves and their families.

Help for Struggling Nonprofits

Since 1991, the Hartford Foundation has awarded $10 million in transitional operating support grants to more than 200 agencies in the region to help them survive sudden shortfalls in funding. Anticipating greater need for this type of assistance this year, the Foundation expanded the program to address the changing needs of nonprofits and the community. The allowable grant amount was increased, as was the percentage allowed for overhead costs.
