Legacy Society

The Hartford Foundation was founded in 1925 by community leaders who cared deeply about the people of our region and wanted to create a way for generous individuals to give back.

Today, the Foundation is the region’s largest grantmaker primarily because families have included us in their estate plans for generations. With membership in our Legacy Society, we honor those individuals who have created an enduring legacy for Greater Hartford with a planned gift that is administered by the Foundation. Members are listed in the Foundation’s Annual Report and website (unless they request anonymity), and receive information and invitations to special events.

By becoming a member of the Legacy Society, you can:

  • Make a lasting difference in your community
  • Honor your family name
  • Support your community after providing for your family
