Preference Funds

Preference Funds are a variation of Unrestricted funds. With a gift of $10,000 or more, you request that the Foundation take into account the needs of specific organizations, towns or populations. This ensures that your favorite causes will be remembered within the context of changing times.

Perhaps you recognize the critical importance of a flexible endowment, but also wish to support a current favorite charity, cause, town, or population. A Preference Fund is a good solution. You state a non-binding preference that the Foundation consider the needs of named charities or specific causes in making grants from your funds. Foundation staff views your named charity or cause with preference when reviewing relevant applications. We will also reach out to these organizations if they have not sought funding over time. The flexibility of your non-binding gift allows the Foundation to keep your fund active and useful if needs change or closely related needs emerge in future years.
