Latino Endownment Fund

Created by and for Latinos, this innovative fund is the first in Connecticut and among the first of its kind in the US. Members contribute $250 or more each year, learn about a topic of interest to the Latino community, and collectively choose one or more grants to local Latino nonprofits. Agencies with Latino leadership and a core mission of benefiting the Latino community are eligible for grants from this fund.

Founded by Marilda Gándara, president and director of the Aetna Foundation, and Rosaida Rosario, consultant and former Hartford Foundation board member, and quickly joined by many Latino leaders on its steering committee, this fund’s objective is to strengthen Latino nonprofits in Greater Hartford and to increase philanthropy among Latino and non-Latino donors. In addition to events specific to the Latino Endowment Fund, members are invited to the Foundation’s annual Celebration of Giving, as well as other meetings and seminars on issues of concern to the Greater Hartford community.
