There are 3 basic types of scholarships in this directory:

1. Hartford Foundation College Scholarships
Scholarships for which recipients
are selected by a volunteer committee of the Hartford Foundation. For info about these scholarships, go to Hartford Foundation College Scholarship Program. To apply for any of these, use the Hartford Foundation Scholarship Application.

2. General Scholarships
Scholarships for which the recipients are selected by schools, committees or other organizations. To view descriptions of these scholarships, go to Search the Directory. Some of these scholarships use the General Scholarship Application.

3. Graduate School Scholarships
Scholarships for students who have
completed college and are going to graduate school. For a list of Graduate School Scholarships, go to Search the Directory. Some of these scholarships use the General Scholarship Application.

Selection Criteria
If you meet these criteria, you might qualify for that scholarship.

Amount Awarded and # of Awards
This is the typical dollar amount and number of scholarships usually awarded by this organization each year.

Renewable
Renewable usually means that if you receive this award, you are eligible to apply to renew it the following year. It does not mean you automatically receive it again, and if you do, the amount may differ from that of your first award.

Deadline
The date by which your application must be postmarked or received.
