Heroes without Homes
In Connecticut, as many as 2,800 veterans were homeless at one point in 2008. Many different agencies are involved in providing services for homeless veterans - from the federal and state government to local nonprofit nonprofits - and veterans in need often don’t know they exist, or are reluctant to ask for help. Fortunately, with the help of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving, new collaborations are being formed to connect vets with housing and services that can help them lead independent, fulfilling lives.
