About Our Grantmaking
Grants from the Foundation's discretionary funds are made to nonprofit, tax-exempt organizations, primarily in the areas of social services, health care, education, early childhood and youth services, arts and humanities, and neighborhood development. Grants from donor-advised and donor-designated funds are also made, after review by the Foundation, to meet the philanthropic interests expressed by specific donors.
Grant application reviews by the Foundation's program staff facilitate the Board of Directors' distribution decisions at eight to ten meetings each year. Included in the review are the budget and staffing for the specific proposed project, as well as the organization's mission, financial management capacity, and Board representation. We urge prospective grant applicants to contact us early as they develop programs or capital projects for potential Foundation funding.
