Purposes for Which Grants Are Not Made


The Foundation does not make grants from its unrestricted funds for:

  • Sectarian or religious activities
  • Grants directly to individuals
  • Grants to private foundations
  • Endowments or memorials
  • Direct or grass-roots lobbying efforts
  • Conferences, research, or informational activities on topics that are primarily national or international in perspective

In addition, the Foundation generally does not make grants for:

  • Federal, state, or municipal agencies or departments supported by taxation
  • Sponsorship of or support for one-time events
  • Liquidation of obligations incurred at a previous date
  • Sustaining support for recurring operating expenses
